One of Swedesboro’s best hidden treasures has gotten a gentle makeover. A bright, colorful welcome sign has been added to the entrance of Lake Narraticon Park to greet visitors and welcome them into this serene and wonderful space. For the purpose of making the park more accessible for visitors with special needs such as wheelchair or stroller accommodation, a paved path has been created, extending from the parking area to the back of the the park. In addition, a reserved parking space has been created for vehicles with disability placards and/or license plates to allow for closer parking access for individuals with mobility limitations.
These recent changes are just the latest in a series of improvements the Borough has made in the last year as part of an overall Lake Narraticon Park revitalization project. Last summer, two new docks were installed for recreational use- a platform for fishing, and a dock for launching kayaks and canoes. Picnic tables have also been added, kindly built and donated by the Logan Township Middle School pre-engineering students in May as part of a school project. In addition to the picnic tables and docks, the park also features a gazebo, as well as several small campground-style grills, and a small playground for little ones.
The Borough will host a free kayaking clinic at the lake on Saturday, July 13, and Saturday, August 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to come out and learn about kayaking and water safety from our friends at Splash and Paddle while enjoying some peaceful moments on the waters of the lake. Life vests and kayaks will be available for use.
