The cozy little bakery occupies one half of a historic duplex along downtown Kings Highway.  A joyful, chubby cheeked chef adorns the windows of the bakery, welcoming visitors as they’re greeted with the sugary aroma of freshly baked treats.  Just as the name implies, the glass display cases inside Sweetsboro Pastry Shoppe are filled with a mesmerizing array of goodies.

The shop offers nearly everything imaginable, from donuts and sticky buns to muffins, cupcakes, croissants, and almond cookies (a Sweetsboro favorite!).  There are gorgeous chocolate cakes and flaky Danish pastries, creamy cheesecakes and stuffed breads, and freshly brewed coffee to warm the bones.  Custom cakes are made to order for all occasions, from weddings to birthdays and everything in between.

Karen Morrison opened the shop in 2007 and operates the store with Jack Frombach, a third generation baker who manages the shop and serves as head baker.  A play on words with the name of our town, Sweetsboro was born from a desire to combine the from-the-heart quality of home baked goods with the unique nostalgia of an old world shop.  Karen notes, “We wanted to create an old fashioned bakery where people can obtain fresh quality, made from scratch sweets.”  As word spread about the arrival of the store, Sweetsboro became a fast favorite among locals and out of town visitors alike.

The store is open daily all year round, closing for just three days out of the year- New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, and Christmas.  With the exception of certain holidays, the shop is open from 6:30a.m. to 7:00p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 6:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. on Sundays.
