Please be aware that there is a major crackdown on speeding going on in Swedesboro by the Woolwich Police Department. Our goal is to slow traffic down, not write tickets, so do us all a favor and obey the posted speed limits around town.
My request to the police is for ZERO tolerance for speeding drivers. Our new radar signs installed on Franklin, Glen Echo and Kings Highway provide “Alerts” to my e-mail whenever a vehicle is speeding past the sign. Since last Wednesday when I got access to the data base I have received over 2100 “Alert” messages.
This is totally unacceptable and the Woolwich Police Department is responding to this new data in an aggressive manner and I appreciate their efforts. The Police will also have access to our database so they will be able to target the times when the speeding is occurring the most.
We as residents can help make our roads safe for our children to walk to school by setting an example and obeying the speed limits. Other drivers can’t go 50 mph on Franklin Street, Glen Echo and Kings Highway if they are behind a car going 25 or 35 mph. Please do your part to help make Swedesboro a safer place.
