The Borough of Swedesboro announces that it will be receiving an artifact from the 9/11 World Trade Center. Swedesboro will be taking possession of this solemn piece of history on Wednesday, May 11th. A group of employees from the Borough of Swedesboro along with Council President Sam Casella and Councilwoman Alice O’Blennis will be escorted up to the NJ/NY Port Authority by members of the Swedesboro/Woolwich Fire Department and a Military Color Guard formation to pick up the artifact.
Upon our return getting off Exit 2 of the NJ Turnpike, we will be escorted into Swedesboro by the Woolwich Chief of Police Richard Jaramillo and his Staff.
We will return approximately between the hours of 1:30 and 2:00 pm. A solemn moment of respect will take place upon our arrival in front of the Swedesboro Borough Hall.
All are welcomed to attend this historic event.
“This artifact will represent the courage and compassion that the American people had shown on September 11, 2001. This will also honor all of those first responders, the military and the volunteers that have and continue to defend our country in the name of Freedom,” said Council President Sam Casella.
Mayor Fromm also commented that, “It will be our full commitment to honor the memory of those who lost there lives on September 11, 2001 and to create a memorial in Swedesboro that will ensure that our generations and generations to come will always remember their sacrifices.”
