Swedesboro Resident Graduates Air Force Basic Military Training

Former Swedesboro-Woolwich student and member of the class of 2015 Kingsway Regional High School,  Joseph Bussott graduated from Air Force Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas on July 25, 2019. Joseph is the son of  SWSD teacher’s Mrs. LYNNE Bussott and husband, Douglas Bussott. They reside in Swedesboro. After graduating from Kingsway, Joseph earned an Associates Degree  in Criminal Justice from Rowan college at Gloucester County. He was employed by Acme Markets, Logan from 2015-2019. In BMT, Joseph achieved honor graduate in the top 10% of his class, and according to his Military Training Instructors, was an “example of Air Force core values. His positive attitude, attention to detail, and teamwork helped bring the trainees together…” Joseph will continue on to technical school to become a weather specialist.

Movie in the Park – August 9th

Join us on Friday August 9th at Swedesboro Auction Park (101 Leahy Avenue) for a free movie in the park featuring Mary Poppins Returns!  Movie begins at dusk but arrive early for a chance to meet and have your photo taken with Mary Poppins and enjoy a fun craft.

Rain date is Saturday, August 10th.

Rabies Advisory – Reminder to vaccinate your pets

(Woolwich Township, NJ) – Residents should be aware that a fox found in the vicinity of 2259 Kings Highway on June 28, 2019 tested positive for rabies. There were no human exposures.

Rabies is a deadly disease caused by a virus in the saliva of infected animals. Post exposure treatment is needed immediately, as if left untreated it can cause death. All pet owners are urged to check the vaccination status of their pets. Avoid wild animals and keep your distance from stray dogs and cats.

Be aware that high risk wildlife such as raccoons, foxes and skunks also feed in areas where outside cats are fed. In order to ensure your safety, the Gloucester County Health Department recommends that your pets have current rabies vaccinations.

In addition, the Health Department advises the following: · ADVISE YOUR CHILDREN NOT TO HANDLE STRAY OR UNFAMILIAR ANIMALS, AS WELL AS WILDLIFE. · IF YOU SEE AN ANIMAL THAT APPEARS DISORIENTED OR EXHIBITS STRANGE BEHAVIOR, DO NOT HANDLE IT. IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE GLOUCESTER COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICE AT (856) 881-2828. For additional information on rabies please contact the Gloucester County Health Department at (856) 218-4170.

Trash, Recycling, Yard Waste & Bulk Trash

Just a reminder….Due to the 4th of July holiday, trash, recycling and yard waste will be picked up on Friday July 5th.  Be sure to put your carts out on Thursday after 5pm to ensure pick up on Friday morning.  Bulk trash will also be picked up on Friday.  Please call Borough Hall at 467-0202 by noon on Tueday 7/2 to be added to the list.
