The application portal for the Small Landlord Emergency Grant Program opens!
Wednesday August 19, 2020, applications open for NJHMFA’s Small Landlord Emergency Grant
(SLEG) Program, which will reimburse small residential rental property owners for lost rent revenue due to COVID-19 between April and July 2020.
Although applications are not first come, first served and are open for a week, we urge you to prepare your documents and make sure you’re ready to apply.
It is more important to have your application be correct and accurate than it is to submit early.

Railroad Avenue to be Closed for Railroad Crossing Repairs Beginning 8/10
Railroad Avenue to be closed for railroad crossing repairs next week in Swedesboro
Necessary safety work will require detours
(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a nine-day closure and detour of Railroad Avenue in Swedesboro, Gloucester County.
Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, August 10, until 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, Railroad Avenue is scheduled to be closed and detoured in both directions at the railroad crossing between Guest Avenue and 3rd Street. Construction will remove the existing railroad crossing and replace it with a new concrete crossing, as well as new asphalt approaches for a safer and smoother railroad crossing. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses. The following detours will be in place:
Railroad Avenue northbound detou
- Motorists traveling northbound on Railroad Avenue will be directed to turn left onto 2nd Street
- Turn right onto Locke Avenue/CR 671
- Turn right onto Guest Avenue
- Turn right onto Helms Avenue which becomes Railroad Avenue
Railroad Avenue southbound detour:
- Motorists traveling on southbound on Helms Avenue which becomes Railroad Avenue will be directed to turn right onto Guest Avenue
- Turn left onto Locke Avenue/CR 671
- Turn left onto 2nd Street back to Railroad Avenue
Traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. The road will be reopened if work is completed earlier than planned.
This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program, which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
