I hope you are all enjoying summer and finding time to relax and enjoy family and friends. Today’s communication is in an effort to keep you all informed of what is happening at Kingsway. Road Work Ahead – Kings Highway & Dragon Drive Entrance to Campus
Please be advised of upcoming construction that will begin on or about August 9. South State, Inc. will begin installing a sewer main along Kings Highway beginning at the North end of Kingsway’s campus closest to the Fulton Bank. This project interferes with our main entrance. Please be advised that you may need to enter the campus via the Garwin Road entrance. The security gates will be lifted during construction.
REMINDER: Kingsway Pushes Back School Start Times for 2021-22 School Year
School officials are excited to announce a shift in the start times for middle and high school students. The change pushes back start times by 30 minutes, beginning in September. As we prepare to return to a traditional school year, school officials have reflected on student experiences throughout the pandemic, parent and student survey feedback and the overwhelming support of the medical community to align schedules to the natural sleep cycles of adolescents. This work would not have been possible without the cooperation and support of our elementary sending districts. Click on the links below to review this year’s schedules.
- High School– First Bell (Period) begins at 7:54 am; students will dismiss at 2:28 pm.
- Middle School– First Bell (Period) begins at 8:00 am; students will dismiss at 2:38 pm.
The benefits of this change in schedules include, but are not limited to the following:
Students gain an additional 30 minutes of sleep daily (when compared to pre-COVID schedules)
- Little to no impact on instruction
- Morning arrival will include a structured study component
- Dismissal times will not interfere with after-school
Dragon Run Returns in September.
Registration for the 15th Annual Dragon Run on September 25, 2021 is now available at naterocksheaven.org.
