The Borough of Swedesboro is currently offering a full-time position of Deputy Borough Clerk/Treasurer, working within the Borough Clerk’s office. This is a highly confidential position requiring discretion.
Interested applicants must have at least two years office experience, preferably in municipal government, proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word, Access and Excel, exceptional customer service skills and a high level of professionalism. CMR and RMC certifications preferred or willingness to obtain are required. Ability to work independently and to take initiative are required.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional hours are required twice monthly for Council meetings, for all elections and other special circumstances. This position requires a person who is at least 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen per NJSA 40A:9-133.2. An example of job responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Perform all duties of the Municipal Clerk in her absence
- Permits/Licensing, including: Dogs & Cats, Hunting, Special Events, Solicitors, Bingo, Raffle, Landlord, etc.
- Creating, processing and distributing resolutions, ordinances, council packets, legal notices, meeting minutes, and other items for council meetings.
- Serve as Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics processing marriage licenses, certified copies, births, and submitting monthly/quarterly reports etc.
- Provide administrative support to the office of the clerk (filing, typing, scanning, data entry, meeting minutes)
- Providing Notary services both in house and to the public
- Performs job functions related to elections
- Receives and processes payments and assists with daily and monthly financial reporting
- Assist with Records Management and OPRA requests.
