Borough Mourns the Loss of Tanya Goodwin

Our Swedesboro Family is mourning the loss of Tanya Goodwin, our long time Borough Clerk, who passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018. We are still trying to come to grips with this devastating loss.

Tanya worked in our Borough Hall for the entire time I have been Mayor, so I know better than anyone her work ethic and dedication to Swedesboro. She worked her way up from a general clerk to the most critical position in our Borough Hall, an accomplishment that required years of continuous effort. We were all proud of her achievements and especially proud when we were able to promote her to fill the position of Borough Clerk.

Tanya was an amazing mother and wife, and our hearts go out to Bill, Brooke and Bill Jr. as they deal with their sudden loss.

We have lowered our Borough flags to half staff to honor Tanya Goodwin. May you Rest in Peace Tanya.

Paul Eastlack was a positive force in Swedesboro

On behalf of the Borough of Swedesboro we would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Paul Eastlack who passed away this week.  Paul was a leader of Boy Scout Troop 13 for over 35 years and had a positive impact on countless young people in our community.  Paul also was a positive force in our community as a leader of the Kiwanis Club of Swedesboro.

As my next door neighbor for over 30 years I knew Paul as a person who cared deeply about his family and the Swedesboro community.  I could not have had better neighbors than Paul and Carole.  He was always a true gentleman and although he was a man of few words I enjoyed many conversations with him over the years.

Paul Eastlack is a perfect example of a person who dedicated many, many hours to his community without ever seeking attention or notoriety.  He is another member of the Greatest Generation who set an example for others to follow.  We thank him for his service to Swedesboro.

In honor of his many years of community service in Swedesboro we will lower the Borough Flags to half staff in honor of Paul Eastlack on Sunday and Monday.

Hurricane Sandy: Borough Preparedness, School Closings, and Trick or Treat Postponement

Dear Residents of Swedesboro,

The Borough is taking measures to prepare for Hurricane Sandy and working with Local, County and State Emergency Coordinators to coordinate Plans and resources.  Lake Narraticon has been lowered to accommodate the expected storm surge.  Mayor Fromm will join a conference call with Governor Christie and his Cabinet this morning and a meeting of all Local Emergency Response Organizations will take place on Sunday Evening.  Please print out all of the storm preparedness information posted on our website prior to the storm’s arrival, as the chance of losing electric service is high.  We will do our best to keep you informed and provide up to date information as it becomes available.

Please note that all schools in the Swedesboro-Woolwich and Kingsway Regional school districts are CLOSED Monday, October 29 and Tuesday, October 30 in anticipation of the approaching storm.

Additionally, Halloween Trick or Treating in the borough has been postponed until Monday, November 5th (3pm – 8pm).
