In Memory of Darlene Casella

Today we are lowering the Borough flags out of respect for Councilman Sam Casella and the recent loss of his mother Darlene Casella, a long-time resident of the Swedesboro-Woolwich area and a contributor to our community.  Mrs. Casella was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Past President of the former St. Joseph’s PTA, Past President of the Kingsway High School Band, the cafeteria manager at Headstart in Swedesboro and a former certified nursing aide at Shady Lane Nursing Home  in Clarksboro.  She was a long time poll worker in Swedesboro and was there for every election. To those of us who knew her, it is an understatement that Mrs. Casella was very opinionated and had a unique sense of humor.  She was the best friend of my mother-in-law Misty Sharbo over on Lore Drive and I can just imagine the reunion they are having right now as they are together again.

Mrs. Casella was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 yrs., Frank Casella and survived by her children, Frank Jr. (Carolyn), John, Salvatore (Nadine),  Patricia (Brian) Mays, and Lucy Zane and her companion Gary Gubbei, as well as her grandchildren Rebecca, David, Tyler, Austin, Jason,  and Chad, Her brother, Mitchell (Adriene) Simmons.

The Borough of Swedesboro offers our sincere condolences to the Casella family.
